Gene Simmons, the 76-year-old co-founder and bassist of KISS, is recovering after suffering a crash in Malibu on Tuesday afternoon. The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to a call shortly before 1 p.m. on Pacific Coast Highway, where Simmons’s SUV is reported to have collided with a parked vehicle.
Reportedly, authorities say the driver may have fainted or lost consciousness prior to the impact. The sheriff’s department confirmed a medical emergency was considered, though it did not immediately name Simmons as the driver.
After the collision, Simmons was transported to a hospital for evaluation and later released into his wife’s care. Shannon Tweed, his spouse, told outlets a medication change could have contributed to the incident. Simmons also took to social media to reassure fans, writing, “I’m completely fine. I had a slight fender bender. It happens. Especially to those of us who are horrible drivers. All is well.”
Family members and representatives say Simmons is resting at home and intends to resume his schedule soon. The accident comes just ahead of a planned KISS reunion concert in Las Vegas later this year as part of their “Kiss Army Storms Vegas” event.
As of now, there is no indication of long-term injuries. The investigation into the crash remains open, with authorities continuing to review whether health issues, vehicle mechanics, or external factors played a role. Stayed tuned for updates.
