Brad Pitt Wants Tom Cruise to Join Him in ‘F1’ Sequel

Los Angeles — July 9, 2025

Following the adrenaline-fueled debut of F1, Brad Pitt is already revving up for a sequel — and he has one major co-star in mind: Tom Cruise.

In a red-carpet interview at the film’s box office celebration party in West Hollywood on Sunday night, Pitt surprised reporters with an enthusiastic pitch for a dream team-up.

“Tom’s the real deal. He actually races — he’s flown jets, driven motorcycles at 200 mph, jumped off cliffs. The guy lives for speed,” Pitt said. “We’d be lucky to have him in F1 2. I think fans would lose their minds.”

Pitt, who stars in F1 as a retired driver brought back into the racing world as a mentor to a rookie phenom, filmed the movie during actual Formula One races and collaborated with racing legend Lewis Hamilton, who co-produced the film. Directed by Top Gun: Maverick’s Joseph Kosinski, the film blends real track footage with cutting-edge cinematography and has already grossed $128 million globally in its first week.

Tom Cruise, a longtime motorsports enthusiast and friend of Pitt’s, has not yet responded publicly to the invitation, but insiders say the two have been in informal talks. Cruise, who famously performed many of his own stunts in Days of Thunder, Mission: Impossible, and Top Gun, has been spotted at F1 events this year and has expressed admiration for Pitt’s performance in the film.

“Brad looked fantastic in the car. It’s a gorgeous film,” Cruise told a fan in a recent viral video at the Silverstone Grand Prix. “I wouldn’t say no to a role if the timing was right.”

Fans are already imagining a high-octane sequel with Cruise playing a rival team owner, former champion, or even a villain behind the wheel.

When asked who Cruise might play, Pitt just grinned. “Let’s just say there’s plenty of fuel in the tank.”

F1 is currently playing in theaters nationwide. No official sequel has been greenlit — yet. But with Pitt behind the wheel and Cruise potentially riding shotgun, it seems Hollywood may be gearing up for the next lap.
