Alec and Stephen Baldwin Escape Injury After Crashing Into Tree in the Hamptons

Actor Alec Baldwin and his brother Stephen were involved in a car crash Tuesday afternoon in the Hamptons when their Range Rover struck a tree along a narrow residential lane. Neither brother was injured.

According to local authorities, Baldwin was driving near East Hampton when a sanitation truck pulled in front of his vehicle. He swerved to avoid a collision, lost control, and hit a large tree off the shoulder of the road. Police said airbags deployed and both men were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Emergency crews responded within minutes. The front end of the Range Rover was heavily damaged, but the brothers were able to exit the vehicle on their own. A police spokesperson described the accident as “serious but fortunate,” noting that no other vehicles were involved and that no citations were issued.

Witnesses said the impact could be heard from several houses away. One neighbor reported seeing the Baldwins standing beside the crumpled SUV, visibly shaken but unhurt, as firefighters disconnected the battery and cleared debris from the road.

Weather and road conditions were described as damp at the time of the accident. Police said Baldwin’s evasive maneuver appeared to have been the result of another driver unexpectedly entering the roadway. Investigators found no evidence of impairment or excessive speed.

Alec Baldwin later confirmed the incident in a brief social media post, saying he was grateful that no one was hurt and thanking first responders for their quick action. “We’re fine,” he wrote. “It could have been much worse.”

Stephen Baldwin also posted a short message expressing thanks for “God’s protection and the kindness of everyone who stopped to help.”

The vehicle, owned by Baldwin’s wife, Hilaria, was towed from the scene with extensive front-end damage. Police said the tree, an old oak that stood just off the curb line, remained upright but with a large section of bark stripped away.
