Mira Sorvino Makes Her Broadway Debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago

Mira Sorvino, the Academy Award-winning actress, is about to realize a lifelong dream by making her Broadway debut this fall in the iconic musical Chicago. From September 15 through November 2 at the Ambassador Theatre, she will star as Roxie Hart, the fame-hungry housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her lover and schemes her way to stardom through cunning manipulation of the media.

Sorvino expressed that performing in a Broadway musical has been a dream since childhood, calling the opportunity to join Chicago “literally a dream come true.” The show, known for its bold choreography, provocative costumes, and unforgettable numbers like “All That Jazz” and “Cell-Block Tango,” offers her a dynamic and legendary stage to make her debut.

Her film credentials—anchored by her Oscar-winning turn in Mighty Aphrodite and roles in Quiz Show, Summer of Sam, and Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion—have long defined her as a screen actress. Now she steps into theater history, joining the ranks of performers who have embodied Roxie since the 1996 revival, from Pamela Anderson to Melanie Griffith.

This turn on Broadway adds a new chapter to Sorvino’s storied career and invites audiences to witness a celebrated screen presence embrace one of musical theater’s most spirited and notorious roles.
