Yet Another Book on the Royals: Courtiers: Intrigue, Ambition, and the Power Players Behind the House of Windsor

Whew! It’s difficult keeping up with the growing number of new books out chronicling the comings and goings of Britain’s royal family. The latest would be Courtiers: Intrigue, Ambition, and the Power Players Behind the House of Windsor. The book, from author Valentine Low, comes in at 384 pages and has a publication date of January 23, 2023. Amazon describes it, in part, as the “The gripping account of how the Royal family really operates….Low has written about the royal family over the last 25 years for The Times and Telegraph. Low’s book comes on the heels of Tom Bower’s Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors. Amazon describes it as “Meghan Markle’s journey from minor actress and attempted activist to the woman powerful enough to drive a wedge within the British Royal Family.” Goodness gracious, right? Okay. I’ll fess up. I’ve read it. Yes, it’s fun. Who doesn’t love a royal soap opera? Another guilty pleasure is onetime Vanity Fair editor-in-chief Tina Brown’s The Palace Papers: Inside the House of Windsor–the Truth and the Turmoil was published In April of this year. First of all, let’s acknowledge that Tina Brown has a talent for crafting a narrative that makes you feel as if she is sitting beside you telling you a story. The result is pure magic. The Washington Post calls it “addictively readable.” I could not agree more. Brown’s book comes in at 592 pages and hit book stores in April. Also out recently are Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall by Angela Levin, The New Royals by Katie Nicholl, as well Finding Freedom by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand. Also, from two years ago — Battle of Brothers: William and Harry – The Inside Story of a Family in Tumult – October 20, 2020. I hate to admit it, but, yeah — I’ve bought all of them. LOL
