Carla, Kiki and Amy are back wreaking big screen havoc in A Bad Moms Christmas,, the sequel to Bad Moms (2016). This time, you’re taking their frustrations of motherhood out on Christmas. They intend to do as little as possible for the holidays, and if anyone doesn’t like it, well, that’s tough. Once more at bat, Kathryn Hahn, Kristen Bell, and Mila Kunis portray the trio of mothers, respectively, in this latest outing. Added to the hijinks are the moms own mothers, Ruth, Sandy and Isis (like the terrorists, as she tells one and all), come to visit the week before Christmas. The moms’ moms are played by Christine Baranski, Cheryl Hines and Susan Sarandon. Much alcohol is consumed by the younger mothers, as per usual. There’s a lively addition to the plot here in the form of a male stripper in need of having his privates waxed. Throw in a stolen Christmas tree and a lap dance for Santa, and, well, you get the idea. Christina Applegate and Jada Pinkett Smith are among the film’s costars.
As was the original to this sequel, Jon Lucas and Scott Moore direct from their own screenplay.
The film is scored 31 out of 100 by critics on RottenTomatoes. Audience score is 57. A Bad Moms Christmas is rated R and runs 1 hour 40 minutes.
