When Daddy’s Home arrived in theaters in 2015 and topped 150 million in the U.S. alone (240 million worldwide), it was almost certain a sequel would follow. And so it has in Daddy’s Home 2 with Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell reprising their roles as Dusty and Brad, respectively. This time out, rather than dealing with the pratfalls of competition as fathers, the two are co-parenting Dusty’s kids. Linda Cardellini and John Cenar return from the original movie to reprise their respective roles.
Similar to another film in theaters, A Bad Moms Christmas, Dusty and Brad must deal with the trials and misadventures beset upon them by their visiting fathers, played by Mel Gibson and John Lithgow. As with the mothers in A Bad Moms Christmas, the two fathers arrive just in time for the holidays. Hijinks ensue.
Sean Anders returns to direct from a screenplay by Brian Burns and John Morris.
Daddy’s Home 2 has a wanna-see score of 95 on RottenTomatoes. The film runs 1 hour 40 minutes and is rated PG-13.
