Lionsgate is calling Tyler Perry’s Boo 2! A Madea Halloween a horror-comedy, a description that would fit the bill whenever the irrepressible Madea and Halloween meet a chainsaw-wielding serial killer. When Madea’s niece Tiffany decides she’s going to spend her 18th birthday celebrating at a frat party — held at a lakeside venue in the middle of nowhere. While Tiffany is distracted by the frat president, she isn’t aware that party-goers are dropping like flies. In come Madea, and Aunt Bam and Uncle Joe to take Tiffany to safety. But events get out of hand, and Madea, Bam and Joe find themselves running from the chainsaw and a madman. High jinks, mayhem and Madea. What could go wrong? Tyler Perry once again takes on the roles of Madea and Uncle Joe. Cassi Davis is back as Aunt Bam. Diamond White co-stars as Tiffany.
RottenTomatoes critics gave this comedy a dismal rating of 8. That’s right: 8. But audiences who have taken it in disagree. Their score is 72 which is not bad. Heller?
The movie appears to be ratings-proof. Boo2! opened just south of 22 million dollars. The film is rated PG-13.
