Divergent stars Shailene Woodley and Theo James stopped by Comic-Con to sign autographs in an appearance to promote the upcoming Insurgent, the second installment in the Divergent Trilogy.
In the second in the book series in 2012 by American writer Veronica Roth, the adventures of the young heroine Tris (Woodley) once again engages the forces that dominate political order in the futuristic and dystopian world of a greatly-changed Chicago.
The 2014 release of Divergent, the first of the trilogy in theaters, earned a opening weekend payday north of 54 million dollars at the U.S. box office. Total first run haul exceeded 150 million.
If any any doubt existed as to Shailene Woodley’s ability to greenlight a movie, that question may have been put to rest. In John Green’s teen angst love story based on the best-selling novel, The Fault in Our Stars, Woodley pro she didn’t need an action film to bring in audiences. That big screen tear jerker brought in 48 million opening and has earned a tidy 150 million dollars to date.
Look for Insurgent in theaters March 20, 2015.
